Hemp seeds shine when it comes to nutritional value. Hemp seeds are actually from the same plant species as marijuana, the plant Cannabis sativa. Don’t be alarmed though. They are from a variety of Cannabis sativa that only produces trace amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Hemp seeds are also not the part of the plant where THC is produced which is in the inflorescences. Hemp seeds do contain phytic acid, tannins and protease inhibitors all of which could potentially inhibit protein absorption although it is considered to be low.
Hemp seeds contain potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, manganese, zinc, and copper. As well as some amounts of calcium. It is also a good source of certain B vitamins. . These seeds take the spotlight with their omega-3 content.

Environmental Impact
Hemps don’t just have a stellar nutritional profile but are also great for the environment. They can grow quickly and capture carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Capturing carbon dioxide is a pathway to reducing global warming. Less pesticides are needed also because of its rapid growth. Irrigation is also less needed. Hemp seeds grow and shed quickly. Allowing nutrients to be absorbed by the ground through its shed material so other crops can also be planted using the same soil, decreasing overexploitation of the soil which happens when one type of crop is the only one being planted on the soil.
